TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS:  Mechanics Cooperative Bank is once again proud to announce the recipients of their annual Scholarship Awards! The Mechanics Cooperative Bank scholarship program was created to support and recognize outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities, and community involvement amongst local students. The scholarship aims to support young talents in pursuing their educational dreams.

The following students have been selected as recipients of the 2024 Mechanics Cooperative Bank Scholarship:

  • Eric Belliveau, Dartmouth High School
  • Avery Carvalho, Westport High School
  • Emmaline Fitton, Dartmouth High School
  • Adrian N. Gonzalez, Westport High School
  • Lucy Latour, Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School
  • Bridget MacDougall, Taunton High School
  • Adyn Marcos, Somerset-Berkley Regional High School
  • Cole Megna, Somerset-Berkley Regional High School
  • Jenna L. Pereira, Taunton High School
  • Samantha Simon, Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School

President and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank Joseph T. Baptista Jr. said “Students like these are prime examples of why we continue to offer the Mechanics Cooperative Bank Scholarship program.  Their dedication to their studies, involvement in their communities, and commitment to excellence is truly inspiring.. We are proud of each recipient’s impressive high school career and wish them all continued success in the next phase of their education – Congratulations!”

Eric Belliveau is a graduate of Dartmouth High School, where he competed at the varsity level in golf, indoor, and spring track, reaching states for the 4×200 relay and excelling as a sprinter and javelin thrower. In addition, he served as a member of the National Honor Society his junior and senior years. Eric is attending Penn State and majoring in Architecture.

Avery Carvalho attended Westport High School and is now enrolled at Boston College, where she is majoring in Business: Finance, with a Pre-Law Track. While a student at Westport High School, she served as the Class of 2024 representative, yearbook secretary, and captain of the varsity tennis team during her junior and senior years. She was selected as a MA Youth Leadership delegate and contributed as a columnist for The Wildcats newspaper.

Emmaline Fitton, a Dartmouth High School graduate, served as the dance captain and choreographer for both the DHS Show Choir and DHS Theatre Company, as well as a soprano 2 in DHS Harmonix. Additionally, she was a member of the National Honor Society and assisted in the DHS Peer Mentor Program. Emmaline is attending UMass Lowell and majoring in Plastics Engineering

Adrian N. Gonzalez graduated from Westport High School and is attending Wheaton College, where he is majoring in Physics. He was a member of the tennis team and served as captain of the E-Sports Westport Rocket League. Beyond school, Adrian gives back to the community through volunteer work with the Gifts to Give charity.

Lucy Latour graduated from Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, where she served as captain and all-star for softball, volleyball, and basketball. Additionally, she earned the role of president of the National Honor Society. Lucy is now pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Bridget MacDougall attended Taunton High School and was captain of both her field hockey and softball teams.  She also served as the president of the Matthews Outing Club and co-president of Amnesty International. Bridget is attending Villanova University, where she is majoring in Economics.

Adyn Marcos, graduated from Somerset-Berkley Regional High School and is attending Providence College in pursuit of a degree in Finance. In high school, he was the assistant captain of the varsity ice hockey team and competed on the varsity track and field team. Additionally, Adyn served as a member of DECA and was a Big Buddy mentor.

Cole Megna is a graduate of Somerset-Berkley Regional High School, where he was a member of the tennis team for 2 years. In addition, Cole served as a Spanish mentor and participated in the Science Olympiad. He is attending the University of Rhode Island with a major in Mechanical Engineering.

Jenna L. Pereira attended Taunton High School, where she served as captain of the varsity soccer team and winter track team. Jenna was also named Valedictorian of the Class of 2024, as well as president of Student Council. She is a student at Harvard College, where she is majoring in Chemical & Physical Biology on the pre-dental track.

Samantha Simon attended Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School, where she was apart of the varsity cheerleading team. In addition, Samantha was the secretary and first place winner for Business Professionals of America. She is now attending Merrimack College, where she is majoring in Sports Management.

Mechanics Cooperative Bank is dedicated to supporting local students and fostering their academic growth and pursuit for higher education.
